چکیده

We consider the local deformation problem of coisotropic submanifolds inside symplectic or Poisson manifolds. To this end the groupoid of coisotropic sections (with respect to some tubular neighbourhood) is introduced. Although the geometric content of this groupoid is evident, it is usually a very intricate object. We provide a description of the groupoid of coisotropic sections in terms of a differential graded Poisson algebra, called the BFV-complex. This description is achieved by constructing a groupoid from the BFVcomplex and a surjective morphism from this groupoid to the groupoid of coisotropic sections. The kernel of this morphism can be easily chracterized. As a corollary we obtain an isomorphism between the moduli space of coisotropic sections and the moduli space of geometric Maurer–Cartan elements of the BFV-complex. In turn, this also sheds new light on the geometric content of the BFV-complex.

Bfv-complex and Higher Homotopy Structures

We present an alternative approach to induced higher homotopy structures constructed by the ’basic perturbation lemma’. This approach is motivated by physical considerations and makes use of operads and their representations. As an application we prove that the BFV-complex controls the formal deformations of coisotropic submanifolds. This is established by identifying the P∞-algebra structure o...

Invariance of the Bfv–complex

The BFV-formalism was introduced to handle classical systems equipped with symmetries. It associates a differential graded Poisson algebra to any coisotropic submanifold S of a Poisson manifold (M,Π). However the assignment (coisotropic submanifold) ; (differential graded Poisson algebra) is not canonical. In the construction several choices have to be made. One has to fix: 1. an embedding of t...

Deformations of Coisotropic Submanifolds and Strong Homotopy Lie Algebroids

In this paper, we study deformations of coisotropic submanifolds in a symplectic manifold. First we derive the equation that governs C∞ deformations of coisotropic submanifolds and define the corresponding C∞-moduli space of coisotropic submanifolds modulo the Hamiltonian isotopies. This is a non-commutative and non-linear generalization of the well-known description of the local deformation sp...

Coisotropic D8-branes and Model-building

Up to now chiral type IIA vacua have been mostly based on intersecting D6-branes wrapping special Lagrangian 3-cycles on a CY3 manifold. We argue that there are additional BPS Dbranes which have so far been neglected, and which seem to have interesting model-building features. They are coisotropic D8-branes, in the sense of Kapustin and Orlov. The D8-branes wrap 5-dimensional submanifolds of th...

Deformation of integral coisotropic submanifolds in symplectic manifolds

In this paper we prove the unobstructedness of the deformation of integral coisotropic submanifolds in symplectic manifolds, which can be viewed as a natural generalization of results of Weinstein [4] for Lagrangian submanifolds. Let (X,ω) be a symplectic manifold. A submanifold Y ⊂ (X,ω) is coisotropic if rank(ω|Y ) = 2 dim(Y ) − dimX . The closedness of ω implies that ker(ω|Y ) defines an int...
